Optimal Reception of a Class of Signals in the Presence of a Priori Unknown Statistics,

Abstract

The paper discusses the problem of reception of a phase manipulated signal on a noise background in the presence of unknown noise statistics and a priori probabilities of values of the information parameter. The number of values which the signal can assume is presumed to be known. Algorithms for obtaining continuous estimates of the parameters of the useful signal and for determining boundaries of various classes are derived. (Author)
