Calculation of Illumination for Aerial Survey on Color Film (O Raschete Osveshchennosti pri Aerofotos 'Emke na Tsvetofotograficheskikh Materialakh'),

Abstract

In connection with the use of color films for aerial surveying, the Soviet Union occupies a leading position regarding the extent of territory photographed and the assortment range of films, the quality of images, and the efficiency of use of color aerial photographs for interpretation. In contrast to foreign practice, where aerial surveying is done in the main on reversible film, in the USSR the negative positive process is prevalent. A still further spread of color aerial photographs is limited by the light sensitivity of the film and the properties of the aerial photography apparatus used. From the practical point of view it is interesting to bring these factors into confrontation with the circumstances of daytime illumination with a view to determining the exploitational potentials of aerial color photography.
