An Investigation of the Effects of a Lossy Earth on Antenna Patterns at VHF

Abstract

The objective of the report is to theoretically investigate the potential of several low profile antennas for use at or near ground level locations, as compared with a quarter wavelength monopole. Of specific interest is the radiated field intensity at low elevation angles produced by VHF multiturn loop antennas having various orientations with respect to a flat lossy earth.
