Lubricating Oil for Automotive Hypoid Gears,

Abstract

The lubricating oil for automotive hypoid gears is usually based on mineral oil, alkylamine, and chlorine- and sulfur-containing additives. In order to increase the operating properties of the oil the Russian patent suggests the addition of the following: Zinc dialkyldithiophosphate; Alkenyl succinic acid ester; Polymethacrylate; Polymethylsiloxane fluid, and (as the sulfur- and chlorine-containing additive) Trichloromethyl alkylxanthate.
