Theory of Normative Systems: Synopsis and Applications,
Abstract
The report presents a synopsis of a manuscript reexamines the concepts and methods of the decision sciences. A principal aim was to combine in a single conceptual framework a method for considering valuative as well as factual aspects in the decision process, a more practical approach to the analysis of adaptive systems, and a way of developing criteria for evaluating new concepts and models in systems analysis and design. Applications in social science and ethics as well as decision science are discussed, along with some difficulties that must be anticipated in applying the normative approach. (Author)
