High Energy Halogen Chemistry

Abstract

The objective of the research program was to explore the synthesis of new functional groupings with potential utility in high energy propellants and explosives. The contents includes the following topics: Reactions of olefins with dichlorine heptoxide; Reactions of alcohols with dichlorine heptoxide; Reactions of ethers with dichlorine heptoxide; Reactions of amines with dichlorine heptoxide; Reactions of organometallics with dichlorine heptoxide; Reactions of alkyl perchlorates; Synthesis of some highly reactive trifluoromethanesulfonates (triflates) and their reactions with alcohols; and Fluorammonium trifluoromethanesulfonate.
