Research on Molecular Lasers

Abstract

The report presents the results of research concerning molecular and chemical lasers. The topics include: Measurement of V to V and V to R,T rates among hydrogen halide molecules and the temperature dependence of the energy transfer rates previously determined for HF, DF, HF/CO2 DF/CO2 systems; Studies on rapid subsonic gas mixing with emphasis on turbulence to enhance rapid mixing; Vibrational relaxation studies of CO2 in the pressure range 1-100 atm.; TES HBr chemical laser studies; EPR study of reaction rates in the NO + F2 dissociative reaction; Chemical laser studies of the reaction of atomic oxygen and acetylene including the determination of V to V energy transfer probabilities; Studies of the partition of exothermicity in the CS2-O2 chemical laser system; and Experimental study of the relaxation of CO2(020) and HF(v = 1) by collisions with H and F atoms.
