Measurement of Small Changes in Sound Velocity in the UHF Range,

Abstract

Several modifications of a pulse-echo technique for measurements of small changes in ultrasonic phase velocities are described. They are of varying complexity and precision. The best methods are accurate to 2 ppm at 500 MHz; one of these is automatic and has a response time of the order of 1 second. The methods are applicable a s long as the waveform of one echo can be distinguished from noise. (Author)
