The Energy of a BCC Iron Deformation Twin Boundary,

Abstract

Little information is available on coherent twin boundary energies of bcc metals. This is due to the difficulty in recognizing annealing twins in bcc metals because of their unique morphology and to their rarity because of their relatively high interfacial energy. The purpose of this investigation is to show through surface morphology measurements that the interfaces of a bcc deformation twin will, upon annealing, achieve as low an interfacial energy as a coherent annealing twin.
