Present and Advanced Guidance Techniques

Abstract

Seven guidance equation techniques, both present and advanced, are discussed. Sufficient detail is given so that the basic philosophy and equation development for each technique may be understood. The techniques described are: Q; Delta; Explicit; Linear tangent; Optimal; Numerical integration; Parameter optimization. Both normal and fast reaction targeting concepts are discussed. Comparison is made between the seven techniques with respect to computer storage and speed requirements, targeting requirements, and mission flexibility.
