Evaluation and Analysis of the 6950 Electron Tube Pack.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to evaluate the shock and vibration protection provided by the shipping container and spring suspension cushion system used in packing the type 6950 electron tube. A deficiency in the form of a highly resonant condition was detected during vibration test at 4.0 Hz. Therefore, several methods of attenuating the vibration were developed and evaluated. The use of polyurethane 6detuning snubbers6 was the most effective and efficient method of reducing the resonant condition. The results of the rough handling test performed on the contractor's electron tube pack indicated that the pack provided excellent protection against shock and high frequency vibration. The performance appeared to be consistent even in cold environmental conditions. (Author modified-PL)
