An Associatively Controlled Functional Multiprocessor for Real-Time Applications,

Abstract

A general purpose, multi-processor structure and control algorithms is developed which makes it possible to incorporate many processors of different types into one system. Each processor performs control operations on its own behalv using an associative memory subsystem as a scoreboard to post requests to tasks assigned to other processors in the system and to select tasks which other processors have requested it to perform. The system is evaluated by simulation. It is concluded that the control algorithm effectively ties the system together so that processors can act collectively to meet a set of system requirements without significant mutual interference.
