A Note on the Flow Toroidal Oscillations of a Thin Spherical Shell of Conducting Fluid.

Abstract

Slow oscillations of a thin spherical shell of conducting fluid in the presence of a toroidal magnetic field are shown to drift eastward in agreement with the work of Stewartson. The result is established very simply by suitable choice of basic magnetic field. (Author)
