Nernst Lamp for Laser Pumping.

Abstract

The purpose of the project was to undertake the study, development and construction on a best effort basis of an experimental incandescent lamp of Nernst glower type for pumping a cw alphabet YLF laser using ceramic conductors with properties of selective thermal radiators for the light emitting elements. Progress in each of these areas has been made. Ceramic material research efforts have been conducted. Materials were selected and tested for their spectral thermal and electrical properties. Various glower laser pump configurations have been made and tested. A complete laser pump system, including cooling, has been made and tested. A complete laser pump system, including cooling, has been built, tested and delivered to the contractor. (Author)
