Studies on Cyclic Organotetraborane Derivatives.

Abstract

Several derivatives of dimethylenetetraborane are prepared from olefins and B4H8CO, as well as from B4H10. Proton magnetic resonance properties of these cage compounds suggest angle strain at B(2,4) and at the bridging carbons. A method of preparing B4H8CO directly from B2H6 and CO is described. (Author)
