The Far Field Zone Beam Pattern of a Parametric Acoustic Array

Abstract

Mellen and Moffett have derived models for parametric sonar radiator design following Westervelt's theory. Their models analyze both absorption and saturation limits in both the near field and far field. This memorandum is concerned with the far field zone expansion of the far field beam pattern and pressure into a series of eigenfunctions which can be integrated term by term. After summing over the terms, it is shown that the far field beam pattern is a product of the two primary beam patterns.
