Hypersonic Research Project

Abstract

The report summarizes the following theoretical and experimental investigations: (A) Hypersonic and rarefied gas flows; Wakes, separated and reattaching flows, viscous flow, laminar and turbulent boundary layers with strong blowing, supersonic turbulent mixing layer, and kinetic theory description of rarefied gas flows. (B) Flow of ionized gases; Theory of weakly ionized gases, low-intensity discharge transverse to a hypersonic stream, an arc-heated wind tunnel, collision-free plasmas, and non-equilibrium phenomena in low-density arc jets.
