Active Excavator Scoops for Working Frozen and Rocky Soils without Preliminary Loosening (Ekskavatornye Kovshi Aktivnogo Deistviya dlya Razrabotki Merzlykh i Skalnykh Gruntov bez Predvaritelnogo Rykhleniya),

Abstract

To tackle especially hard-to-excavate soil, for example, soil which is frozen or rocky, a powered-action scoop for excavators has been developed which differs from an ordinary scoop by the presence of striker teeth and powerful pneumatic hammers installed in a front-mounted shovel in a hollow front wall and, in a backhoe shovel, in the bottom of the scoop housing. The tooth and the pneumatic hammer are united by means of their mounting unit by design into a striker with a device to actuate the pneumatic hammer. (Author)
