Emerging Aerospace Materials and Fabrication Techniques.

Abstract

Some of the more promising aerospace materials and fabrication techniques resulting from recent research and development programs of the Air Force Materials Laboratory are briefly described. These materials include metals and alloys, seals and sealants, coatings and finishes, fibers and filaments, resins and adhesives, ablation materials, graphites, fluids and lubricants, and miscellaneous materials. Proven or potential applications, limitations, and availability of the materials are described. The report is intended to provide a consolidated review of promising materials for selection for improved and future aerospace systems. (Author-PL)
