Lower Bounds for the Fundamental Frequency of a Fixed Membrane by Finite Differences.

Abstract

A simple inequality is established for difference operators. A consequence is that a difference eigenvalue furnishes a lower bound for the fundamental frequency of certain fixed membranes. (Author)
