The All Volunteer Navy and the Schools: Recommendations for Integration of Navy Careers into Career Education

Abstract

The study examined the potential for integrating information on careers in the Navy environment into the career education programs which are currently being developed within the public education community. This integration would result in the presentation of Navy employment information in the same educational context in which employment information on comparable careers in the civilian environment is reseented. Interviews were conducted with key personnel to verify the feasibility of the study concept, to obtain information describing career education principles and current program developments, and to obtain information describing current manpower procurement procedures and Navy occupational information and career orientation materials.
