Automated Mechanical Property Data Processing System.

Abstract

Significant improvements in data acquisition and reduction for mechanical property tests of composite solid propellants and binders have been realized by installation of an automated data processing system. The system is based on a small digital computer, and is assembled from both commercially available components and specially designed interfacing components. The program described in this report enables the system to automatically sample and record data from test instrumentation, to compute pertinent data, and to output the information in a usable form immediately upon completion of the test. This system provides a more efficient method of data reduction, reduces the possibility of human error, and provides the basis for extracting more information from test data than is feasible by manual methods.
