Hand Weapons (Personnel Defense)

Abstract

The report describes a method for evaluation of hand weapon physical and functional performance characteristics. It identifies supporting tests, facilities, and equipment required. It provides procedures for preoperational inspection, physical characteristics, safety, personnel training, accuracy, compatibility with combat tasks, durability, reliability, portability, adverse conditions, maintainability, human factors, and value analysis. Applicable to small arm hand held pistols and revolvers. Not applicable to trench knives and submachine guns.
