Radar Landmass Simulation Computer Programming (Interim Report).
Abstract
Several methods have been devised for processing a digital radar data base to create simulated mapping-radar scope images. To aid in the evaluation of these various methods, NAVTRAEQUIPCEN has developed a system which operates in conjunction with its TRADEC System to produce a pseudo real-time radar display. Simulation methods can be simulated on this system for comparison and evaluation. The objective of this report is to describe the software, developed in-house, which processes raw digital radar data to produce a 'baseline' simulation against which other methods may be compared. The software is functionally broken down into three tasks: terrain data processing, cultural data processing, and radar effects. It is written in a high-level language, FORTRAN, to facilitate experimentation and modification. (Author)
