Rapid Determination of Heroin (Morphine) in Urine

Abstract

The report details work conducted on a project designed to improve the sensitivity of a field test kit for detecting morphine in urine. Color reagents, extraction parameters and techniques were evaluated to improve the sensitivity to less than 1 ug/ml morphine in urine. Final evaluation of the redesigned field kit using spiked urine indicated the project was successful; however, evaluation with user murine was inconclusive due to the shortage of a supply of fresh user urine.
