Thermodynamic Investigation of Compounds in Rocket Propulsion.

Abstract

The calculation of the correction for the heat of evaporation of liquid chlorine into a calorimeter caused by the rise in temperature during the reaction has been improved. This leads to an approximately 0.25 kcal revision to the standard heat of formation of alpha WCl6 as stated in the report (AD-748 932). The revised value for the standard heat of formation at 298K for alpha WCl6 is minus 227.18 kcal. The heats of transformation for alpha-1 to alpha-2 and alpha-2 to beta WCl6 were measured.
