Large Deflections of Plates with Nonlinear Elasticity and Hollow Shells with Hinge-Supported Edges

Abstract

The method of finite differences was used to solve problems dealing with large deflections of rectangular plates with nonlinear elasticity and hollow shells with hinge-supported edges, which are under the effect of external normal pressure uniformly distributed along the entire surface or along the central rectangular area. The curvature parameter values at which a crack in a cylindrical panel occurs are established. Critical loads and their corresponding deflections were found for panels with different curvature parameters.
