Control of Underseepage by Relief Wells, Trotters, Mississippi. Appendix J: 1965 Pumping Tests.

Abstract

In 1950 an experimental relief well system was installed along the land-side toe of the Mississippi River main-line levee at Trotters (Levee Mile 54), Miss., by the U. S. Army Engineer District, Memphis, to provide a facility for investigating (a) control of underseepage by means of relief wells, and (b) performance of relief wells over an extended period of time. This report (Appendix J) presents a description of well cleaning operations and pumping tests conducted in 1965. The well pumping test data are analyzed to compare the yields of the pump-tested wells with the yields obtained after installation. Photographs of well screens obtained in 1967 with the borehole TV camera are included to show the condition of the interiors of several selected wells.
