Atlanta Coastal Region Multi-Agency Oil and Hazardous Materials Pollution Contingency Plan - Region 4

Abstract

The Plan provides for a pattern of coordinated and integrated responses to pollution spills by Departments and Agencies of the Federal Government. It establishes a Regional Response Team and provides guidelines for the establishment of Sub-Regional Contingency Plans and Response Teams. The Plan provides for: Assignment of duties and responsibilities: Establishment and identification of strike forces and emergency task forces, A system of notification, surveillance and reporting; Establishment of a Regional Center to coordinate and direct operations in carrying out this Plan; A schedule of dispersants and other chemicals to treat oil spills; enforcement and investigative procedures to be followed; directions on public information releases; and instructions covering on-scene coordination. The Atlanta Coastal Plan will be effective for all navigable waters of the states of Alabama, Mississippi, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and the Panama Canal Zone.
