A Study of Implicit Finite Difference Techniques for Compressible Viscous Flow.

Abstract

The purpose of this contract has been to develop numerical procedures for solving the Navier Stokes equations to study separated flows over wings at transonic speeds and in the near wake of missiles at hypersonic speeds. As a result of this effort a finite difference technique has been developed for the time dependent motion of a viscous compressible gas. The method is intended to permit efficient solution of the equations in both the viscous dominated and inviscid limits.
