The Structure and Chemical Composition of Compounds Formed on the Surface of Metals in the Presence of Complex-Forming Reagents,

Abstract

An X-ray study was made of phase compounds formed on the surface of Armco iron, zinc, copper and cobalt in the presence of the complex-forming reagents cupferron, 8-hydroxyquinoline, benzotriazole and alpha-nitroso-beta-naphthol. The identity was established of the phase compounds formed in heterogeneous reactions of metals with the reagents mentioned with complex compounds obtained in solutions. The results obtained were confirmed by data from elementary chemical and spectrophotometric analyses.
