Review of Soils Design, Construction and Performance Observations, Tom Jenkins Dam, Ohio.

Abstract

Tom Jenkins Reservoir Project is an unzoned, rolled-earth fill structure about 75 ft high, 944 ft long, containing about half million cubic yards of earth fill. The fill was placed in alternating wet and dry alyers. Details considered and values used in design are reviewed as well as construction procedures, and results of field control tests and tests on record samples are given. Observations of performance made during and after construction are also presented. No study was made of the foundations for the spillway and outlet works since they are founded on firm rock.
