Control of Underseepage by Relief Wells, Trotters, Mississippi. Appendix I: 1963 Pumping Tests.

Abstract

In 1950 an experimental relief well system was installed along the landside toe of the Mississippi River main-line levee at Trotters (Levee Mile 54), Miss., by the U. S. Army Engineer District, Memphis, to provide a facility for investigating (a) control of underseepage by means of relief wells and (b) performance of relief wells over an extended period of time. This report (Appendix I) presents a description of well cleaning operations conducted in 1963, a description of the current (1963) condition of the well tops, an analysis of data from water samples from the wells, and a description and an analysis of pumping tests made on selected wells in 1963 to compare the yields of these wells with those obtained after installation.
