Learning Control Systems and Pattern Recognition.
Abstract
DATED Oct 71, AD-749 265.(*adaptive control systems, mathematical models), (*pattern recognition, scientific research), learning machines, learning curves, artificial intelligence, photosensitivity, linear systems, feedback, mathematical logic, semiconductor diodes, shift registers, logic circuits, digital systems, curve fitting, graphics, errors, reviews*control, *learning, automatic, control, signal processing, data processing, image converters, images, themis project, *control theory, error analysisThe report covers the five year research effort of this Project THEMIS contract. This report is divided into four sections: each section summarizing the overall developments during the five years plus additions to theory and experiment derived from the final year of research. Section 1 (Academic Progress) summarizes the important contributions made to science and to education as a direct consequence of this Project THEMIS. Section 2 covers studies on man as a learning controller, ideal prediction with a learning system, and the question of stability in learning theories is covered in this section. Section 3 is concerned primarily with the development of both the theories and the experimental techniques of pattern recognition. Section 4 reports on the development and use of photosensitive receptor arrays for pattern recognition. (Author)
