Sensitive Thick Film IF Amplifier and Discriminator.

Abstract

(*RADIO RECEIVERS, *INTERMEDIATE FREQUENCY AMPLIFIERS), PORTABLE EQUIPMENT, VERY HIGH FREQUENCY, FREQUENCY MODULATION, DISCRIMINATORS, BAND PASS FILTERS, LIMITERS, MODULES(ELECTRONICS)The report describes the development of a sensitive IF amplifier and discriminator FM manpack radio sets operating in the 30 to 80 MHz range. The IF amplifier consists of a low loss preselect filter followed by a low noise FET amplifier that drives the first bandwidth definition filter. This filter is followed by two more amplifier stages driving one of three plug-in bandwidth definition filters that are chosen for the desired mode of operation. A third thick film hybrid module consisting of two amplifiers, a limiter stage, a discriminator and an audio amplifier completes the IF amplifier system. (Author)
