Solid Lubricated Bearing Technology. Part II. Solid Lubricated High Speed Ball Bearings.

Abstract

The report describes the second year effort of a two year program that had as its objective the development of improved, self-contained, solid lubricated ball bearings capable of at least 25 hours operation at speeds approaching 60,000 rpm. The program encompassed a temperature range of -40 deg F to 600 deg F and a maximum load combination of 75 lb thrust/25 lb radial. A high speed test stand was assembled that is capable of functionally evaluating the performance of solid lubricated ball bearings over a 60,000 rpm speed range. (Author Modified Abstract)
