New Concept Employing an Electronic/Optical Device in Dental Parallelometry.

Abstract

A dental parallelometer is described which incorporates in its design a new concept in parallelometry. Instead of employing unwieldy extraoral templates or intraoral jigs, the instrument allows the operaor to execute exacting parallel preparations through electronic-visual guidance. The apparatus reduces working tension associated with cutting mutiunit parallel preparations, promotes a relaxed, smooth operative procedure, and meets the requirements of an ideal paralleling device.
