An Objective Measurement of Motivation.

Abstract

The report describes a project which developed an objective measurement of motivation using Flanagan's critical incident technique. The sample population was U. S. Navy Jezebel operators. The report includes a rating form which was used, the statistical computations of the data recorded, and a new, modified form. The rating form was found to have a high interrater reliability; many of the scores on the items had an exceptionally high correlation with the total score received and the study generated a particularly good operational definition of motivation.
