Second SOLITAIRE Calibration Experiment.

Abstract

AINED FROM A 15-BIT DIGITAL SHAFT ANGLE ENCODER SYSTEM, ARE COMPARED TO ANGLE DATA FROM SEVERAL RADARS AT White Sands Missile Range. The SOLITAIRE NFOV azimuth data agreed, in general, to within 0.1 degree of the radar data; the NFOV elevation data agreed to within 0.1 degree average elevation angles of the radars. The SOLITAIRE WFOV encoder data differed from the NFOV data by less than plus or minus 0.02 degree in azimuth and was about 0.08 degree low in elevation. Target position was determined to within approximately 20 meters by triangulating between the RAMPART and SOLITAIRE azimuths and elevations when the target range was about 39 km and 32 km from RAMPART and SOLITAIRE, respectively.
