Existence and Bounds for Multiple Solutions of Nonlinear Equations, II.

Abstract

A fixed point theorem of Krasnosel'skii is applied to prove the existence of and obtain a priori bounds for positive solutions of nonlinear two point boundary value problems when it is known that the solutions assume their maximum at the right hand end point of the given interval. The solutions so obtained cannot, in general, be obtained by simple iteration procedures. The results are applied to a problem recently discussed by Cohen. (Author)
