Measurements of Galactic Cosmic Ray Dose and Geomagnetically Trapped Radiation from the OV1-4 Satellite.

Abstract

A highly sensitive tissue-equivalent ionization chamber was flown aboard the OV1-4 satellite, which was launched on 30 March 1966. The orbit was roughly circular with an apogee of 1019 kilometers and a perigee of 893 kilometers. The complete results from the ionization chamber are presented in geographic coordinates and geomagnetic B-L coordinates. Galactic cosmic ray and geomagnetically trapped dose rates were measured.
