An Overview of Image Processing.

Abstract

Image processing, the enhancement of information within images and the extraction of information from them, is an application area of engineering, mathematics, and computer technology which has found uses throughout the medical, scientific, governmental, agricultural, and industrial communities. The specific tasks of image processing and the computer systems which have been developed to perform them are the subject of this document. The report includes a discussion of hardware and software functions; current image processing systems and programming languages, and suitable applications. (Author)
