A Wideband Antenna-Impedance Simulator.

Abstract

RECTIONAL ANTENNAS, RADIOFREQUENCY POWER, BROADBANDMONOPOLE ANTENNASA relatively small cylindrical chamber is described which provides the capability to simulate the operational impedance characteristics of a whip antenna throughout the frequency range 30-76 MHz. This chamber, which does not contain tuning elements, is made of an aluminum cylinder with the inner surface lined with a highly absorbing ferrite tile. To adjust the impedance-controlling networks of a wideband whip antenna, the top portion of the antenna whip is replaced by a metal disc and the assembly positioned axially within the chamber. The use of this chamber greatly simplifies tuning and power testing of the impedance controlling networks of wideband whip antennas. (Author)
