Thermochemistry of High Temperature Gaseous Compounds of Metals.

Abstract

Measurements were made by high temperature mass spectrometry, both equilibrium and electron impact studies, to obtain thermochemical data for gaseous compounds of refractory metals. Gaseous SF6 was admitted to a tungster effusion cell, equilibrium was established at 1600K and gaseous products of WF6, WF5, WF4, WSF2, WSF3, WSF4, WS2F2 and WOSF2 were identified and characterized.
