A Study of Numerical Simulation of Maritime Fog,

Abstract

The paper reports the findings of an investigation into the use of a numerical advection fog model in a maritime environment. Methods of handling the fallout of liquid water and the flux of water vapor and heat are discussed, and the effect of the sea-surface temperature on fog formation is shown in a series of graphs and figures. Also discussed is the importance of wind shear and radiation with relation to the model. Several modifications to the model were tested and are described and the results of five experiments are reported. Conclusions and recommendations derived as a result of this study are presented.
