Comparative Compressive Strength of Rodded and Vibrated Cylinders.
Abstract
The purpose of the study was to obtain compressive strength data on rodded and vibrated concrete cylinders to guide the task group in making recommendations to Subcommittee III-a relative to possible changes in ASTM Designations: C 31-59 and C 192-59. The study constitutes one phase of a comprehensive comparative investigation being conducted cooperatively by various Government and private agencies for this purpose. In the WES portion of the study, five batches each of a high- and a low-slump concrete were mixed from which cylinders were molded and consolidated by rodding or by several methods of vibration. The cylinders were tested for compressive strength at 28 days age. (Author Modified Abstract)
