A High-Speed Digital Recording System for VLF and ELE SFERIC Waveforms.

Abstract

The report describes a system for digitally recording atmospheric noise (sferics). The system records on magnetic tape the received sferic waveforms, sferic direction of arrival and time of arrival. Recording rates of several thousand per minute are possible. Three systems have been constructed and simultaneously operated at widely separated locations. Preliminary results from the three station test are discussed. (Author)
