Computation of the Geodetic Coordinates of an Aircraft from Two Measured Distances and Its Height above the Surface of the Earth Ellipsoid (Vychislenie Geodezicheskikh Koordinat Samoleta po dvum Izmerennym Rasstoyaniyam i Ego Vysote nad Poverkhnostyu Zemnogo Ellipsoida),

Abstract

The paper discusses the computation of the geodetic coordinates of an aircraft from two measured distances and its height above the surface of the earth ellipsoid. The advantages of the suggested method of determination of an aircraft's coordinates are: it is not necessary to reduce the measured distances to the surface of the earth ellipsoid, it is not necessary to know the approximate geodetic coordinates of the aircraft, and the suggested formulas can be used advantageously in a computer.
