Use of NELC Antenna Model Range for Measurement of Radiation Patterns at VHF/UHF: Ground Plane Effects and System/Equipment Requirements are Determined in Effort Capability to VHF/UHF at 1/48 Scale.

Abstract

More value could be derived from the NELC antenna model range if the frequency range could be extended from the present 96MNz-4GHz to 4-24GHz. Antenna location and intercoupling problems could then be solved through vhf and uhf. In the initial effort toward achieving this capability it is found that measurements can be made with existing equipment only if the model antenna transmits and the arch antenna receives. The report determines (1) ground plane effects, (2) system power and efficiency requirements, and (3) equipment requirements for full capability at the desired frequency range. (Author)
