Primers for Automobile Refinishing.

Abstract

The investigation compared various primers and finish coats and showed that gloss retention was improved by use of a quick drying primer coating, MIL-C-8585A. A silicone-alkyd finish coat, MIL-C-46141, was found preferable to the specified alkyd enamel finish, TT-E-489F. A regularly scheduled washing and waxing is necessary to maintain a continued desirable aesthetic appearance. (Author Modified Abstract)
